The IAS aspirants at Jantar Mantar continued their relay hungerstrike in protest against corruption in UPSC Prelims 2010, to the 32nd day.
Shri Govindacharya visited the grieved students, motivated them in their just fight against corruption. He assured them of putting this issue into the consideration of Honourable Prime Minister.
Further, during the day, in the meeting of the working committee of Congress, Shri Ahmed Patel also addressed the cause. Home Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram also expresses his concern over the issue and the need of immediate action. He also adviced students to be patient. He too assured that if required a discussion with Prime Minister or a cabinet meeting can also be put in place.
Before that, the evening of the previous day, the group got encouragement from a meeting with Mr. Oscar Fernandes in which he paid due attention to the issue and sought appointment and counselling of students with Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The students see this as a welcome initiative and an act of co-operation, which earlier had eluded them.
Mr. Mahesh Chaturvedi, who has been leading a Gandhian life since the last three years and is a social activist of repute has also presented himself in full support at Jantar Mantar for the cause.
A representation of students has also planned to approach various high courts to seek judicial empowerment for the matter.
